What happened?

This afternoon (Tuesday) we went back outside to check on our five caterpillars. We got to the first swan plant which had two caterpillars on it yesterday and we found that there was only one! We then went and looked at the other two plants to see if it had moved plants. There were four caterpillars on it but they were all too small to be the one we had lost.

We all looked and looked for our big caterpillar, we couldn't see him anywhere. We were surprised when one of our Room 4 scientists found it in another plant. We were very worried that he wouldn't like that plant so we had to  move him to another swan plant.

We noticed two things.
1. There was one more caterpillar than yesterday. How did we get another one?

Maybe a butterfly came along an laid one egg.
An egg was on the leaf because the egg comes first.
Maybe he was really tiny yesterday and we didn't see him.

2. How did the caterpillar get all the way to the plant he didn't like?

Maybe he ate all of the leaf that he was on and fell off the plant.
Maybe the two caterpillars were fighting because there isn't many leaves left on the plant and the caterpillar that lost had to go away.

Tennis

Today we started learning about tennis. We are learning how to catch, throw and bounce a tennis ball. We also had turns balancing the tennis ball on the racket. We had so much fun!

What can we see?

Yesterday we did some observational drawing. We spent some time looking closely at the swan plants and drawing exactly what we saw. We drew in some huge caterpillars that look as though they have been eating for a long time. We will be checking our swan plants regularly to see what happens. We have three swan plants in our garden and five caterpillars.

Yesterday afternoon Room 4 went outside. We drew the caterpillars and we looked at the caterpillars eating a swan plant. By Fe'ao
